World Mental Health Day.

Hi,
How are you? How are things?
No really how are you?
All to often we ask and get asked this question a few times a day but the answer and time spent listening to the answer is just nano seconds.
We say it as we pass without breaking a stride to listen to the answer. We reply with a false smile knowing no one really wants to know the real version of how we are. This false pretence is replayed many times a day in many situations.
So I promise to keep this post short if you promise to do 2 things...
1) Take the right moment and situation to ask someone how they really are.....pause and listen to the reply you get and if the tone, pitch or body language does not match the words then ask them again and make them aware that you really want to know the answer.
2) If someone asks you and the situation presents itself (I don't mean on a crowded conference call or around a full board room table - although that would be a great platform to get people's attention on this) give your real answer actually say today is not a great day, or I need a mental health wellbeing break after this call .....
Go on be an inspiration do it today and start to form a habit that becomes a behaviour not just on World Mental Health Day but on EVERY DAY.
