Unprecedented Times

Hi,

How are you? How are you feeling at this moment in time?

Let's take a moment to connect. Now more than ever we need to stop, think, reflect and breath.

So as we enter this new territory with the media saturating every level of social media with stats, stories and fear mongering we need more than ever to take a moment and not get lost in the downward spiral of despair.

Things are tough, a lot of people around the world have been and will be impacted by the death of a loved one. Others will live in a heightened state of anxiety and stress as they worry about friends and family who fall into the "At Risk" category. Others will be financially fraught as business drops and loss of earnings ensues threatening lively hoods and basics become a balancing act of choice (food vs mortgage/rent payment).

This crisis will not pass quickly but it will pass.

Keep things in context you may get angry because a holiday, a festival, a sporting event gets cancelled but some people are losing their lives, their businesses, their way of life will be forever changed.

So resilience and self care more than ever should be at the forefront of your mental well-being.

- Take time to breath, meditate and be still.

- Take time to talk and listen, allow others to voice their concerns and be true to your feelings.

- Treat yourself to simple pleasures like long hot bubble baths.

- Dig out the board games to play.

- Watch a TV episode with a loved one via Whats App or Skype (you can still be together when apart)

- Take control and list the things you can do at home if you need to stay in doors;

• Clean out that messy drawer

• Watch shows you never had time for

• Read that book on the shelf

• Sort old pictures into order

• Recycle your wardrobe

• Revamp your CV

• Research online courses

• Use the time to learn something new

• Visit finances, try and be smarter with bills

Own the mantra "One day at a time", things will change and be out of your control so don't over plan anything.

Think about others within this cycle of trepidation and ask yourself the hard question ..... Are you placing yourself in a stressful situation by trying to source 100 toilet rolls and do you need that many or do you actually have enough for now giving the community chance to be equally stocked.

Remember now more than ever the people who use the food banks and the homeless - what can you spare and donate?

Let's not forget whilst this new experience is unfolding many still continue to live with ongoing conditions both physical and mental well-being.
