Hi,
How are you? More importantly how is your mental well-being?
There have been a lot of articles discussing the damage to mental health of individuals as a result of Covid -19 and lockdown.
The implications of the pandemic stretch far beyond the actual virus itself. Job loss, loneliness, abuse, financial instability, career concerns, mental fatigue, education gaps.
The reality in saying we have anxiety is only the start of the journey. If we want to be in control of how we feel, then we have to understand the type of anxiety that is being carried around with us. In order to let it go we have to know what we are letting go off!
So let's look at the below and see if we can recognise any of them....
Generalised Anxiety Disorder ( everyday anxiety never really abating and always hanging around.)
PTSD ( post traumatic stress occurs when you experience or witness a traumatic event.)
Agoraphobia ( A fear of being in situations where escape might be difficult or that help wont be available if things go wrong. It's more complex than a fear of open spaces.)
Social Anxiety ( Does the thought of having to mix again with a group of people, along with the thought of public speaking as you enter back into the office and the future ways of working fill you with dread and a racing heart.)
Specific Phobia ( Do such things as spiders, snakes, heights, flying have an opportunity to present themselves again as you start to think about travel and holidays.)
OCD ( not the throw away OCD comment because you like things in order. The real kind that stops you being able to go out/ go to sleep until you have checked things. The kind that makes you turn around and go back home. The type that can have you in a repeated cycle for minutes or hours performing a ritual that you know deep down is illogical.)
If you are reading this and can relate or know someone who might be feeling like this, I actively encourage you to contact me.
Let's start to fix things, to take the control back.
